Terms of Service

Welcome to BuddyTrip. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the BuddyTrip application and website at bbmi.app (the "Service"), operated by BuddyTrip ("BuddyTrip," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
BuddyTrip helps groups plan trips and run friendly, Ryder-Cup-style competitions — including crew management, destination and date voting, scheduling, expense tracking, chat, team assignment, and golf scoring with a live leaderboard. We may add, change, or remove features over time.
2. Your Account
- You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for activity that happens under your account and for keeping your login credentials secure.
- You must be old enough to form a binding contract in your jurisdiction (and at least 13) to use the Service.
- You may sign in using email and password or a third-party sign-in provider such as Google. Your use of a third-party provider is also subject to that provider's terms.
3. Trips, Roles, and Other Members
BuddyTrip is a group application. Trips have roles (such as owner, planner, and member) that determine what each person can do. If you create or help organize a trip, you may be able to invite others, manage the roster, and edit shared content. Content you contribute to a trip is visible to other members of that trip as described in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for the people you invite and for the information you enter about them.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
- Upload or share content that is unlawful, harassing, abusive, defamatory, or infringes someone else's rights;
- Attempt to access accounts, data, or trips you are not authorized to access;
- Interfere with, disrupt, probe, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure;
- Misuse the Service to send spam or to collect others' information without authorization;
- Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code except as permitted by law.
5. Your Content
You retain ownership of the content you create in BuddyTrip (your trips, messages, scores, expenses, and other contributions — "Your Content").
By using the Service, you grant BuddyTrip a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, display, and transmit Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service to you and the other members of your trips (for example, showing your scores on the leaderboard or your messages in the trip chat). This license exists only so we can run the Service and ends when Your Content is deleted, except for content retained by other members' copies (such as a message already delivered to a trip channel) or in routine backups.
You are responsible for Your Content and represent that you have the right to share it.
6. Third-Party Services
The Service relies on third-party providers (including Supabase, Google, Resend, and Vercel) and retrieves golf course data from a third-party course-data provider. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of third-party services. Your use of a third-party sign-in provider is governed by that provider's own terms and privacy policy.
7. Scores, Results, and Competitions
BuddyTrip provides tools for tracking scores and competition results, but you and your group are responsible for the accuracy of scores entered and for resolving any disputes about results. BuddyTrip's calculations, projections, and leaderboards are provided for your convenience and entertainment and are not an authoritative ruling on any competition.
8. Availability and Changes
We aim to keep the Service available and working, but we provide it on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time, and we may set or change limits on features.
9. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT DATA (INCLUDING SCORES AND EXPENSES) WILL ALWAYS BE ACCURATE OR PRESERVED.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BUDDYTRIP AND ITS OPERATOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US (IF ANY) IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR [USD 50].
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or use the Service in a way that could cause harm to others or to the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (such as content licenses already exercised, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Effective date" above and, where appropriate, notify you within the app. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
